堤岸水坝An embankment dam consists almost entirely of natural, excavated materials which are usually available at or near the site. These can be compacted soil (earthfill), or rock which has been reduced in size by blasting and crushing (rockfill), with an impermeable core in the dam, made from clays, concrete or asphaltic concrete. In cross-section, embankment dams are shaped more or less like an equilateral or isosceles triangle (观看视频) Embankment dams are usually chosen for wide valleys. The foundation can be softer than for dams made of concrete, as they do not exert as much pressure at their base. |
